| K I N O S A K I / T A K A Y A M A |
| We drove from Osafune to Kinosaki, stopping at many interesting places along the way. In Kinosaki, we experienced some of the closest (and loudest) thunder and lightning ever. Luckily, we got a lift back to the hotel so we could "cool off" in the "hot onsen", then eat a meal of nothing but crab. From Kinosaki, we rode trains and buses through Nagoya and Takayama into the Japan Alps eventually arriving at Okuhida at the foot of the snow-capped Yarigatake (3180m). We stayed an onsen with seven "rotenburo" and dined on "hida beef" and home-grown vegtables. Was it worth the long journey into the mountains? I'd say "yes". |
