Travel Notes
Sunrise atop Fuji-san. Is was definitely worth it to stay on the mountain, wake-up at 1:00am, hike to the summit and see the sunrise from the summit of Mt. Fuji.
Ordesa y Monte Perdido National Park. Cañón de Añisclo. Mondoto (1957m) and Sestral Alto (2101m). See above.
Local Trains in Barcelona. I'm always confused when there are multiple train lines plus the metro. In Barcelona, there is the Metro (M), the Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat de Catalunya (FGC) and Renfe Operadora (Renfe). The Metro (M) is what you want to take for most areas in the Barcelona city center.
Abbesses Station. There is a long circlular stairway from the train platform to the station exit, but the "painted staircase" is worth the climb (or descent).
TGV Reserved Seats. TGV requires reserved seats. Mainline SNCF travel does not require reserved seats.
Getting to Ostia Lido. Ostia is very easy to get to, thanks to the Roma Ostia-Lido "trenino" (little train). To get there, take the Metro to the station "Piramide" (line B) , turn left, and you're at the "trenino" station. It's part of the metro system, so a normal metro ticket will get you there.
Golf in Venice. On Lido, Circolo del Golf, Venezia (http://www.circologolfvenezia.it/). We didn't play here, but it was tempting.
Nozomi Non-Reserved Seats. Some Nozomi trains now do not require reserved seats. Trains with non-smoking, non-reserved seats are usually cars one and two.
